Permaculture Land Design
The road back to nature can and will be a bumpy one. So it is important to map out an ethical design plan to smooth things along and minimize adverse effects from unseen factors. By taking time to thoroughly "kilo", or observe how energy flows on the site, you can create a long-term development and management plan to better execute what needs to be done with efficiency and peace of mind.
We design our sites in 4 stages. Each stage can vary on time and intensity according to the desires of the owner. However, neither is more or less important, as valuable insight will be acquired by thoroughly executing each.
1
Initial Consultation
An introductory meeting on the site to discuss the vision for the land and visualize the possibilities. Clients are urged to fill out a questionnaire prior to meeting, and to deeply ponder their story on the land.
2
Data Collection
This is a process that will vary depending on site and design intensity. Data collected is everything from physical, seasonal, and personal. In reality, this stage will never end, and the next steps are always subject to change in accordance.
3
Design
Once we have gathered an adequate amount of information, and we can make decisions with confidence, we will start to design on paper. This process can and should be fun and interactive. Creativity is encouraged, though through a realistic and ethical lens. In the end, an interpretive design plan will be presented with every step necessary to accomplish the long-term goal.
4
Installation/Management
This is when the plan takes fruition. Equipped with a daily guide, the caretakers will never have to question if the job they set out to do is the right one. This makes having workdays, and dispersing labor a much easier and efficient process.
